Love Transends All in Multicultural Weddings

Updated: Dec 28, 2023

Wedding at Henry Autograph Collection Hotel. Music by Rondo String Quartet.

All around our world, love and marriage are the foundation for our lives and families. Each culture and faith have long standing traditions celebrating the wedding ceremony. Today, couples are finding their soul mate across these cultural and religious divides and are creating wedding events that blend their customs or develop entirely new traditions. For many couples, weaving together the elements of the wedding ceremony that are important to them involves mutual respect and a sensitive awareness to the needs of their families while being true to themselves.

Myra and Alex's South Asian wedding was just such a wedding and the couple planned a day that honored all cultures, religions and languages. Zain Ahmad, officiant and friend of the couple, did a phenomenal job translating text and spoke in 6 different languages during the wedding ceremony. Their music choices for us also displayed a nod to different cultures. From our Bollywood selections like Kal Ho Naa Ho to Married Life from Disney's movie, "Up," diversity was present and respected. Riddhi Patel of Sugar Events certainly played an important role in bringing this day to fruition along with Lily Trombley of the The Henry Hotel, Photographer Salar Medie and West Ave. Floral. All did a fabulous job helping Myra and Alex's wedding dreams come together for the perfect day.
