Wow! Jazzmin and Mayokun's wedding was breathtaking! The couple began with a ride in a vintage car to the marble staircase of the DIA for pictures. Photographer Heather Jowett and her staff captured both the posed and candid moments throughout the day. Lorri Lewis and staff of Direct Her Weddings and Events did a masterful job of orchestrating and coordinating the day including the huge set up in a short time frame, the schedule and overall success of the day. Denise Charnas, DIA coordinator was a wonderful help in providing us support and a guide to move us to the various locations throughout the evening.
The ceremony was held in the DIA's vibrant Rivera Court, named for the Detroit Industry murals by artist Diego Rivera that grace its walls. Rev. Dr. Edwin Holmes of the Renaissance Baptist Church of Detroit officiated the ceremony before 200+ guests. Florist Amber Velvet Kirkland created stunning arrangements for both the ceremony and dinner centerpieces.
It's clear the couple enjoys music and that shows in their music choices of Howl's Moving Castle from the Anime film of the same name for Mayokun's processional, All of the Lights by Kanye West, and Ordinary People by John Legend for Jazzmin's processional. The newly married couple recessed to This Will Be by Natalie Cole.
Cocktails were held in the Kresge Court where we played our current covers with some Afrobeat leanings for the guests as they strolled and enjoyed the atmospheric scenery and caracature artist. The guests then enjoyed a sumptuous dinner in the Walter B. Ford Great Hall where we continued to play the couple's favorites through dinner.
DJ Mr. Lightshow then took the evening into true celebration mode with his musical stylings while the guests danced and celebrated Jazzmin and Mayokun. This was a spectacular wedding and one that will be remembered by their guests as extraordinary. Congratulations and best wishes to this couple!
