WKAR Public Media of Michigan State University is celebrating 50 years of their Radio Reading Service for the mid-Michigan community! This program provides news, information, and entertainment to those with trouble seeing or reading the printed word. Originally launched as The Radio Talking Book on October 1, 1973, WKAR Radio Reading Service celebrates 50 years on the air.
We had the honor of playing for WKAR 50th Anniversary Dinner in honor of their volunteers. Held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Lansing, Emily Mata-Garnaat of WKAR and Haleigh Lowman of Crowne Plaza created a lovely evening with delicious dining.
We had a lot fun playing Beatles, classic rock and some older favorites by The Foundations. The guests enjoyed themselves and several even sung along. It was a welcoming gathering of civic minded people who made time to meet the needs of visually impaired individuals in Mid-Michigan.
Thank you to the financial supporters and the hundreds of volunteer readers connecting listeners to the world through the WKAR Radio Reading Service since 1973.
