After 25 years in the wedding business, it’s always fun to discover a new wedding venue. McGregor Memorial Conference Center on Wayne State’s Campus was completed in 1958 and was the masterpiece of world-renowned architect Minoru Yamasaki who is best known for designing the original World Trade Center in New York City. The two-story McGregor center is a highly sculptured building with meeting rooms and reception space that overlook a lobby accented by free-standing columns and partitions highlighted with teakwood. The magnificent atrium design provides abundant natural light and the building earned a First Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects. Overlooking the newly refurbished reflecting pond and sculpture garden, the McGregor Memorial Conference Center isthe University's primary conference facility.
Kathleen and Aaron chose this modern atrium for their wedding ceremony officiated by Pastor Doug Schmidt. Parsonage Events decorated the alter area in their usual outstanding fashion. Kathleen had a special song in mind for her processional, Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes”. We played it for the four bridesmaids and Kathleen along with Beautiful Day by Bono for the couple’s recessional. Samantha from Purple Clover Events and Nicholas Hardy of Elysium Experience orchestrated a beautiful day that ran smoothly from start to finish. Congratulations to the happy couple!
