"Creating the Perfect Ambiance: Why a String Quartet is Ideal for a Garden Wedding"

Updated: Jul 2

Garden wedding at Westcroft Gardens on Grosse Ile. Music by Rondo String Quartet.

Versatility and mobility were two of the characteristics that Natalie and Jack wanted in a string quartet for their Westcroft Gardens and Farm wedding on the island of Grosse Ile, Michigan. Rondo String Quartet delivers both to every event. With a playlist of over 800 titles, there is a song for every type of listener. Natalie and Jack want an eclectic array of songs for their wedding and cocktail hour. We played music by Coldplay, Beatles, Disney hits, and current covers.

Brenda Theobald, the brides godmother, officiated the ceremony. Family and friends enjoyed champagne during the garden wedding and enjoyed the libations of Byrdie Bar during the cocktail hour before moving into dinner catered by Andiamo and music by the band Funkle Jesse. Clearly wanting excellence for their day, the couple had a live painter, Stephanie Fuerst and both photographer D'Isjah Lyons and videographer Fairytale Productions on hand to immortalize the day. We would like to especially thank Heather Burrell, wedding coordinator for Westcroft Gardens, for her efficient handling of the days many moving parts. Everything was lovely!

Westcroft (meaning West Farm) Gardens is the oldest family owned and operated farm in the state. Established in 1776, just days after the Declaration of Independence was signed, the farm of William and Alexander Macomb once occupied all of Grosse Ile. Today a portion of the acerage is still being used as a commercial nursery by descendants of the same family. It is an enduring example of the state's centuries old agricultural heritage.
