Jaime and Bill made a wise choice when selecting The Detroit Historical Museum as their wedding venue. Out of 29 finalists, the Detroit Historical Society has been selected as one of 10 recipients of the 2018 National Medal for Museum and Library Service for Detroit 67: Looking Back to Move Forward. The IMLS National Medal recognizes libraries and museums that provide unique programming and service to make a difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities. It is the highest honor given to museums and libraries across the nation. We will accept the medal at a celebration at the U.S. Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C., on May 24.

But on this early September day, the focus was Bill and Jaime as they got married in the Museum's theater. The couple suffered a set back just a few weeks before their special day. An accidental double booked left them without an officiant. But a hero was waiting in the wings and Jaime's Uncle flew in from California to direct the ceremony. This was a surprise for many of the guests present!

Clearly movie lovers, the couple chose all movie themes including Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Dr. Who, Star Trek, Harry Potter and Concerning Hobbits. The bridal party consisted of 6 maids, an adorable flower girl and ring bearer and 5 members of the family appointed "Blue Crew" shown in the picture. These young ladies hold a special place in Jaime's life and she wanted to incorporate them into her wedding in a unique way. We send out best wishes to Jaime and Bill as they embark on the next "sequel" in their life as husband and wife.
